OLEMA, Marin County — October 31, 2026. The roadway connecting the Olema junction at Highway 1 to the Tocaloma and Platform Bridge area is included in a major Marin County pavement project advertised in August.
What work is planned?
Marin County Public Works bid 41EP2601E describes pavement milling, asphalt overlay, striping, signs, roadside shoulder work and related traffic control along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard from roughly 300 feet east of Platform Bridge Road to the Highway 1 intersection in Olema.
How much was estimated?
The county’s engineering estimate was $2.1 million. Bids were scheduled to close August 19, 2026. An engineering estimate is neither the final contractor payment nor proof that the road is finished. The public procurement record does not tell drivers the exact status of each traffic-control stage today.
Who uses this route?
The junction serves Olema residents, West Marin businesses, agricultural vehicles and visitors to Point Reyes National Seashore. Intermittent lane restrictions could affect travel and deliveries when construction occurs, but residents should not infer a specific active closure from this August bid alone.
What should drivers check?
Use current county road notices and onsite signs. For road-safety emergencies, follow the Marin Emergency Portal and official directions. This road project is separate from the long-standing vehicle closure of the historic Tocaloma Bridge.
